The White Pass Ski Area is welcoming families to the 28th annual Winter Carnival this Saturday and Sunday which is a big fundraiser for Yakima's Childrens Village.

The ski area's spokesperson Kathleen Goyette says it is not required to have to skis or a snowboard to enjoy the weekend, there will be plenty of fun off the slope.

“We have a great tubing hill that literally cascades right out of the castle. All kinds of fun and games in the base area.”

The event starts Saturday morning with one of the highlights being a large snow castle in front of the main lodge for kids to climb on and slide down and fireworks show at 9:00 p.m. White Pass officials say the castle is the largest snow castle in North America.

All the proceeds from the carnival go to help Yakima’s Childrens Village. More information can be found at the event's website.
