Who Is On Target For Thanksgiving Shopping?

When it comes to cashing in on commerce, who’s in? For the second year in a row, Target says they'll be open on Thanksgiving Day --but not until 6 pm, after most folks have had their big meal and are ready to shop for bargains. Target also reports they'll stay open all night and all day on Black Friday.

Also --if you don't wanna leave home, Target also says the same deals can be found at Target.com starting on Thanksgiving morning. The company also says if you spend at least $75-bucks, you'll get a 20 percent discount you can use between Dec 04-13.

Meanwhile, Target has been getting some heat from shoppers for offering red sweaters with the phrase "Obsessive Christmas Disorder," printed in large block letters on the front. Reaction has been mixed, with some people feeling that the company was making light of obsessive compulsive disorder and tweeting about it using the hashtag #OCD, others thought it was humorous. A Target spokesperson released the following statement: "We never want to disappoint our guests, and we apologize for any discomfort. We currently do not have plans to remove this sweater."

So far, Macy's, Sears, Best Buy, Kohl's, JC Penny, Five Below, Michaels, Sports Authority and Toys R Us are also planning to open on Thanksgiving.

On your way to Target, you’ll find a number of stores which have decided not to open on THANKSGIVING DAY: Outdoor and sporting goods chain REI made some headlines in the last couple of days by announcing that they will be closed on Black Friday, giving its workers a paid day off and urging its customers to spend the day outside instead of shopping.
No others stores are following REI's example so far of closing on the lucrative shopping day. But many are saying they won't be following the trend of some stores of opening on Thanksgiving Day to try to get a jump on Black Friday shopping.
