It's snowing in the Cascade mountains and officials at the White Pass Ski area are excited about the upcoming season. Spokesperson Kathleen Goyette says they're now making snow on the lower part of the mountain. "If we get good snow up high we'll take care of making snow in the base area so we can open as soon as possible." Goyette says they currently have about a foot of snow on the top of the mountain but they need another foot or two to safely operate. They're hoping for that snow within the next week, with fingers crossed for an early opening on or right after Thanksgiving. So she says if you ski or ride pray for snow.
In 2009 White Pass opened two weeks before Thanksgiving.
