The Seventh Annual Chinook Fest, coming the weekend of Sept. 7-9, promises to again be the music mecca of Central Washington. Two and a half days of live music in the great outdoors by nationally touring and Northwest artists -- many of whom played over the course of the 10-week run at Downtown Summer Nights -- will convene in the Nile Valley at Jim Sprick Park.

The question isn't whether a good time will be had by all, but rather, who will be the next star to emerge?

Back in just its second year, Chinook Fest booked an artist out of Kentucky by the name of Sturgill Simpson. Within literally weeks of his performance there, Simpson played on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and on Conan O'Brien's show. He has since been the musical guest on an episode of "Saturday Night Live" and Rolling Stone magazine lauded him as the savior of country music!
