A lot of us will make lists, budgets and handmade gifts as a way to not go too overboard on holiday spending.  But according to global accounting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers, of 12 countries surveyed in 2013, the Irish seem to have a handle on the pot of gold.

Irish people spent the highest average ($1,184) per person last Christmas. The British came in second place spending an average of $1,065 putting presents under the tree, and Americans came in third place, dropping an average of $776 on presents.

At the other end of the scale were Russians, who spent just $93 per person, while those in Spain spent just $184 per person. However the U.S. spent the most money on Christmas overall: $245 billion, while Greece spent the least overall, spending just $2 billion. (Yahoo)
