We are blessed to have a large number of choices for Mexican food in Yakima. Which is your favorite place?

Yakima's love affair with great Mexican food goes back a long time. In the last 30 years or so, we've seen some restaurants come and go, and some favorites maintain their popularity. From small Mom and Pop holes in the wall to larger, more formal places, we have some great choices. The Mexican state of Michoacan has influenced a lot of the local offerings, as we have had a lot of immigrants from that area come to the valley.  But we do have a lot more than the taco-enchilada-rice and beans combinations to choose from. Dishes from other regions of Mexico, seafood and taco trucks can now be found around town.

It's pretty subjective, but where do you find your favorite Mexican food? My family is a devotee of the original El Porton at 48th and Tieton, but I'm sure you have your favorites as well.  Leave us a comment to tell us where and why you get your fix for Mexican food.
