Today was the day students all over the country symbolically "Walked Out" of class for 17 minutes - one minute for each life lost in the Parkland, Florida school shooting.  When your son, daughter or grand kids comes home from school, ask them about the experience.  How did they feel, what did they learn, what was said, how did other students react?  Did your classmates take this exercise seriously, did your teachers make a case against guns or a case for more & better mental health resources? Did students lead the process or did teachers and administrators take charge?  Did it raise more fears?  Where emergency plans revealed or reviewed? Does your kid feel better for the experience?

Ask these questions and more, connect and discuss with your family.  Then share what you discover with your extended family here on KIT.
