According to the Harvard School of Public Health, if you are hungry, grab a handful of nuts. It doesn't matter if it's peanuts or pistachios. People who snack on any kind of nut are 20 percent less likely to die from any cause .

People who eat nuts regularly are also thinner than those who don't eat them, a finding that should alleviate the widespread worry that eating a lot of nuts will lead to weight gain. Overall, those who eat nuts daily have a 20 percent reduction in death from all causes.

Specifically, there is a reduction of 29 percent in deaths from heart disease and an 11 percent reduction in deaths from cancer.
