There is an old saying among us carnivore types, when confronted with an extremely rare piece of meat, “heck, I think a pretty good vet could still save that one.”  Followed by laughs and the sounds of a hyena eating a wildebeest.   Another classic -when asked by the waiter as to how you take your steak,  “just knock his horns off, wipe his behind and put him on the plate.”

Not everybody is into raw meat but perhaps we should be more about medium rare as opposed to medium well.

A new study reveals that the way you take your steak could reveal your risk of developing Alzheimer's. Scientists explain that when foods are browned or blackened they produce compounds called "glycotoxins," which when ingested can increase your risk of age-related dementia.

Researchers found that mice on a diet rich in glycotoxins were more likely to develop dementia-like cognitive and movement problems than mice who were fed a low-glycotoxin diet.

So how will you be ordering your next steak ?
