I was on the Yakima City Council when we stopped doing the pre-meeting prayer. I wasn’t happy about our discontinuing the practice but majority ruled. Believe me, a councilperson needs all the help they can get – divine and otherwise! But one thing is true, if you offer one kind of prayer, you have to be willing to accept all kinds of prayers!
Case in point – Phoenix, Arizona.

TV12 News is reporting that some on the Phoenix City Council are trying to prevent a Satanist group from delivering the traditional prayer at a City Council meeting later this month.

Lawmakers submitted an emergency clause to urge the council to change the process used to choose who leads the prayers at meetings but an attorney – who just happens to be the leader of the Satanic Temple of Tucson- (insert attorney joke here) suggested the group might take legal action if they're not allowed to deliver a prayer.

Satanic Temple members say that, despite their name, they don't actually worship the devil, but that they are a religion.

By the way the picture isn't the Phoenix council. I couldn't find one.  i  think it's actually the UN but then the great satan has spoken there before at time or two according to some!
