Floodwater forced the evacuation of homes earlier today at Lake Aspen Village on River Road. Yakima Police spokesman mike Bastinelli says officers were called to the housing area at about 8:30 a.m. this morning. "There were 11 homes evacuated and about 15 people." But he says since this morning more homes and people have been evacuated. Bastinelli says water from Cowiche Creek was diverted into Willow and Myron Lakes which started to overflow banks early this morning into the Lake Aspen neighborhood. Many homes have suffered water damage but no injuries were reported.
