“I” Street between 6th Avenue and 1st Street will be open to “Local Traffic Only” on Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. The center of the roadway will be blocked due to the construction and trenching necessary for the installation of an industrial wastewater line.

From Monday, Feb. 25 through Tuesday, Feb. 26, “I” Street between Sixth Avenue and First Street will be closed to all through traffic. Crews from TTC Construction, a Yakima-based contracting firm, will be working in the “I” Street area to install the 12-inch diameter line.

A crew will also be working on the project on “J” Street between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue. “J” be closed to through traffic from Monday, Feb. 25 through Friday, Mar. 1. Traffic controls will be in place while the project is underway to help drivers navigate to detour routes for both “I” Street and “J” Street.

While work is ongoing, traffic delays in the project areas are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the projects are completed.

Access to businesses in the areas will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project areas if necessary.

As always, the schedule for these types of projects is subject to change daily, dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
