Heading out behind the wheel this 4th of July weekend? Gas prices are lower than in past years but we’ll say this, there are 48 better states you could be driving in when it comes to the gas tax!

The latest bump comes from the East coast where New Jersey has recently passed a 23-cent per gallon hike in the state's gas tax. The $2-billion that Jersey will make each year would be used to fix the state's roads and bridges. The move will raise the state's gas tax from the nation’s second lowest (behind Alaska) to the seventh highest.

Where does Washington rank. We aren’t the top but we have an excellent view of it.
