Next Tuesday is the Washington State Presidential Primary and your ballot is due in the auditors office at 8:00 p.m. next Tuesday night. Auditor Charles Ross says so far about 20% of the 109,000 ballots sent out have been returned. He says many of the ballots were marked incorrectly. "We've mailed out about 2,000 cure forms and they're coming back. Most are coming back fixed if a person forgot to sign a ballot or forgot to mark their party."
Ross says because the primary happens at a time when the presidential candidates are already known he doesn't expect a big turnout. He says the biggest batch of ballots came into the auditors office last Monday but since then the large numbers have dropped off. You can mail in your ballot or drop it in a drop box located across the street from the Yakima County Courthouse on East Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. If you live in the lower valley your drop box is located at the corner of S. 8th St & E Edison in Sunnyside.
