Governor Jay Inslee visited Yakima Wednesday to talk about early childhood education. Governor Inslee started off his visit by touring a family run day care...Afterward, the Governor participated in business at a roundtable discussion with local leaders. "Well this success in Yakima is so impressive on so many levels,"  Washington Governor Jay Inslee said. "From a law enforcement perspective, we heard from law enforcement that this is one of the best gang prevention investments you can make to give kids confidence to keep them out of gangs."
At the roundtable, local Yakima leaders promised to keep promoting early learning to help kids succeed at school later in life.
The Governors visit to the valley was part of a tour to promote the Governor's proposed budget which would include the largest-ever state investment in childhood learning.
