The National Weather Service issued a "Red Flag Warning" from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Yakima and Kittitas valleys today where winds and low humidity hold the potential for fast growing wildland fires.

The Yakima Herald reports the winds from the west are forecast at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts of up to 30 mph, which could prove to be dangerous with any more fires to the ones already reported in the area.

One of the fires is near Lake Wenatchee that burned as many as four homes, blackened up to 40 acres and forced the evacuation of some 40 other homes.

The other fire crews are mopping up today is a small fire that burned in trees and grasses about one mile from Blewett Pass off Highway 97.
