Warmer Weather Ending Soon in Western Washington

A couple more sunny days with above-normal temperatures in the 70s and 80s are forecast for the Northwest, but the summer preview isn't expected to last through the weekend.

The National Weather Service says cloudy marine air will start to move in Friday, cooling things off on the west side of the Cascades. Above-normal temperatures are expected to last through Friday east of the Cascades.

The Weather Service forecasts a chance of showers this weekend on the west side and a chance of thunderstorms on the east side.

Forecasters also say the warm weather has begun melting the high-elevation snowpack. Rivers are running full on the east side of the Cascades in Washington and in the mountains of northeast Washington.
