Construction continues on the new Wapato High School. Some of the first steel framing started going up in mid-December and that work has continued over the past three weeks. The first areas of the new school being built are the administration office and two, two-story classroom wings.

The district is excited about the progress so far and wants to show it off to the community. That is why the district is inviting the public to a forum next Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Wapato High School.  The contractor, architect, the district’s project manager and district administrators will give a full briefing and answer questions.

Wapato voters approved a $20 million school construction bond in February 2011 to renovate and rebuild Wapato High School. That bond money coupled with around $23 million in State matching money is paying for the $43 million project.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete in the Fall of 2014.
