Wapato Man Dies After Driving Into Canal

WAPATO,-- The Washington State Patrol says a Wapato man died after driving off the road into an irrigation canal five miles west of Wapato.

According to the WSP and an eyewitness account, 56-year-old Matthew Voelker was heading west on Lateral 1 Road Saturday night, when he left the road near Lateral C Road and went into the canal.

WSP says it's unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
