If being a college researcher isn’t the best job ever I don’t know what is.  Every day we tell you about the latest “captain obvious” study moment and somebody –probably you and me- is paying for it.  Here is the latest, just in time for summer fashions and swimsuit weather.

So what is the most attractive physical trait a woman can have?  I know, I know, to each his own, right?  But a new study seem to point to a standard. Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of California, Santa Barbara find a small waist is the key to attractiveness.

Study participants were shown photos of Playboy models, asking them to rate the attractiveness of each.  Both men and women found small waits most appealing. The data revealed that as attractiveness increased, waist size dropped dramatically, but hip size did not.

Participants deemed women with 26-inch waists (about a size 6) as more attractive than women with 29-inch waists. Their conclusion - Study co-leader, Professor Steven Gaulin says, "Our results support the hypothesis that waist size is the major determinant of female bodily attractiveness. It seems that for attractiveness to reach a maximum, waist sizes must shrink, but hip size must not shrink in parallel."

Great, just what all us “big boned” boys and girls need to hear!  So, science says- Hugh Hefner was right??
