Earlier on the Morning News we were talking about discipline and kids.  Fox network’s Todd Starnes had a report on a couple of Dad’s who got punished by the courts for trying to get their kids attention with some mild discipline.  The only thing criminal about the father’s actions was the over-reach by the judges! But here’s an idea backed by science--instead of having to lay the smack down for noncompliance, maybe try writing it down for better compliance.  A new study out of Boston finds kids are more likely to follow the rules if they are written out and posted.  Boston University researchers tested 61 children between the ages of four and six. They found that kids who were starting to read chose written instructions over spoken instructions 75 percent of the time.

The lead researcher says kids seem more likely to recall and obey when it's put to paper.   Why can't Johnny read? He can! He's just trying to get out of doing his chores!
