Volunteers from Home Depot stores in Yakima, West Richland, Kennewick and Hermistan Oregon will be in Sunnyside on Thursday to help build the Jerry Taylor Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Sunnyside. The volunteers will help lay cement pavers in the veterans memorial that was named after a former mayor of Sunnyside. The volunteers will help lay 22 pallets of pavers on the memorial that also includes a tribute to 9-11. Once it's completed Sunnyside officials say it'll be the largest veterans memorial in the Northwest.  Work starts at 8:00 a.m. Thursday.
The memorial has been funded through a variety of private and public sources including a $20,000 donation from Home Depot Stores.
