Thousands of people who love volleyball will fill hotels, restaurants and the Yakima Valley SunDome beginning Friday.

"We have 48 teams coming in,” says Rich Austin, director of sports at the Yakima Valley Sports Commission. "Sixteen teams from each classification -- 1B, 2B and 1A for the WIAA state volleyball championships."

Preparation at the SunDome has been underway since early this week. Crews have been putting down tiles to create a special floor.

Austin says the economic impact on the valley will be huge, especially during the fall, when fewer activities to boost the economy are going on.
