Veterans Day Ceremonies Include Renaming “A” Street

Monday will be a special day for the Pendleton family in Yakima.

A ceremony will be held Monday afternoon to rename "A" St. to S Sgt Jack Pendleton Way. Pendleton is Yakima's only Medal Of Honor recipient.

The ceremony in front of the Yakima train depot will start at 3:00 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Pendleton was 26-years-old when he was killed on the battlefield near Bardenburg, Germany. He is buried at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima.

Monday morning the annual Veterans Day parade will start at 10:45 a.m. along Yakima Avenue. A ceremony will be held at the Korean/Vietnam Memorial at Sarg Hubbard Park at 1:00 p.m.

The McAllister Museum of Aviation on South 16th Avenue will hold an open house from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
