As usual, the United States Marine Corps showed up first.

And come Christmas, a whole lot of Yakima Valley kids will be glad they did.

But the Marines weren't the only ones who rolled into Steve Hahn Volkswagen-Kia-Mercedes Benz for the sake of this year's Toys for Tots drive Friday morning. All of Townsquare Media's local radio stations were there, along with representatives from the Apple Valley Volkswagen Association, the Yakima City Council, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, the Yakima Valley Humane Society and state Sen. Curtis King, R-Yakima.

Santa Claus himself (Jim Garoutte) even got in on the action!

Arriving just before "0 dark-thirty," local Marines parked a Humvee in the Hahn car lot and began accepting donations of toys and cash for their annual Christmas drive. It's a familiar sight at Hahn's place -- the dealership has been part of Toys of Tots for 26 years now.

Hahn was accepting donations until 7 p.m. today (Dec. 11), and by mid-morning, they already had two carloads of toys in their showroom.

The Marines say donations are going well this year, though they can always use more. If you'd like to help, hit this link -- or simply drop off your gift at Townsquare's Yakima offices, 4010 Summitview Ave.

The toys will be distributed to needy children Dec. 18 at The Range, 1701 Garretson Lane, Yakima.
