The Cottonwood 2 Fire Burning in the Wenas Valley is now 100% contained. The Department of Natural Resources says mop up operations Thursday were successful. 52 firefighters are still on the scene, that's is down from 216 over night.

Most crews and engines have been released; one hand crew and two strike teams of engines will continue to patrol and mop up hot spots.

Two outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire. A bridge over the Roza Irrigation Canal has been damaged; this bridge is in place for wildlife passage, and is not part of a public roadway.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although it is believed to have been human caused.

The Cottonwood 2 Fire Burning Near Selah is now 88 percent contained. As of this morning the fire has burned close to 9,000 acres.

216 Firefighters are still battling the blaze but many are expected to be sent home Thursday. The Department of Natural Resources says today's objectives  will be continued mop up near structures and patrolling the fire perimeter.

Two outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire. A bridge over the Roza Irrigation Canal has been damaged; this bridge is in place for wildlife passage, and is not part of a public roadway.

No injuries have been reported.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation although preliminary reports show that the fire was human caused.

The fire started Tuesday morning in the Wenas Valley near Sheep Company Road and Old Durr Road.
