The Union Gap City Council voted in favor of allowing marijuana retail sales, production and processing within city limits at their regular meeting Tuesday.

The 4-3 vote by the council makes Union Gap the only city in Yakima County so far to allow retail sales of pot. The city of Moxee has approved the production and processing of marijuana, but not retail sales.

Union Gap's City Council has voted twice in the past on pot, rejecting a proposed ban of marijuana and a proposed ordinance allowing marijuana businesses in city limits.

Currently there are six applications for retail store licenses in Union Gap, none of which have been approved yet, according to the State Liquor Control board's website.
