With just over two weeks before the April 18th tax filing deadline, Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Doug Shulman said yesterday (March 31st) that they expect to give $250 billion to $300 billion in tax refunds this year, with an average refund of some $3,000. If you expect to get a refund and haven't filed yet, the quickest way to get your money is to file electronically and have the refund deposited directly into your bank account. Shulman said that electronic filers can get refunds in less than three weeks, while it takes about six weeks to process paper forms. The IRS has received a little over 75 million returns so far, with about 65 million of them qualifying for refunds.
