Yakima voters will be deciding if a super majority is needed for the Yakima City Council to pass tax increases.  Citizens for two-thirds have gathered enough signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.

Committee member Bruce Smith, Publisher of the Yakima Valley Business Times says they've gathered well above the needed 4,400 hundred valid signatures. In fact he said they will be close to six thousand valid signatures.  Smith is confident the measure will pass "we never want to be to confident, but we do expect it to pass, very similar measures on a state level have typically passed around here by 70 percent."

A simple majority is needed for the measure to pass. It will be on the November ballot.

Current Yakima City Council members Rick Ensey and Bill Lover are strong supporters of the two-thirds measure.
