More than 30 businesses have applied for marijuana licenses in Yakima and the Tri-Cities.

The state liquor control board released its list of 929 applicants Tuesday to produce, process and sell marijuana received since Nov. 18, when the window for applying opened. The deadline is Dec. 19.

KNDO reports that in Benton and Franklin counties, nine businesses applied for growing and processing licenses. Yakima County received more than 20 applications for the combo licenses.

As for retail stores, there were two applications in Yakima county, and five in Benton and Franklin counties, including one each in Kennewick, Richland, and West Richland and two in Pasco. The two stores in Yakima County are Happy Daze in Selah and Mill Creek Natural Foods in Union Gap.

The board says it will license up to 334 pot shops statewide. There is no limit on the number of growers or processors.

The Yakima City Council is currently in the process of banning the sales, processing and packing of marijuana in the city limits. Yakima County has a moratorium in place but no final decision has been made.
