Two Shootings Started The New Year in Yakima

Two shootings are already being investigated in Yakima in the new year. Yakima Police say two men were shot in the leg minutes apart and less than an hour into the new year. Yakima Police Department don’t think the cases are connected. The first happened in the 500 block of North Sixth Street. Police say a 26-year-old man was sitting in a parked car when another car pulled up and someone fired several shots striking the victim in the leg and torso. Less than 15 minutes later, a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg on North Fifth Avenue while walking down the street. Both shootings are believed to be carried out by gang members. Both victims are expected to recover from their wounds.
