Tuesday was election day in Yakima County for 4 school districts and officials say two of the measures are close to passage and hang on more ballot counts in the days ahead. Voters in Selah and Highland gave thumbs up to levies that renewed funding for school programs.

However the West Valley School District bond measure sits at 59.87 percent, the Sunnyside School District Bond was at 59.43 percent. Both need 60 percent for passage.
The West Valley $59 million bond would fund construction of Apple Valley and Summitview Elementary schools. The $16 million bond In Sunnyside would pay for new classrooms, sidewalks, roads to access the high school and new parking areas and courtyards.
31 percent of the more than 40,000 ballots were returned on election day.
More ballots will be counted later Today.
