The Yakima County Republican Party is hosting two Republican Candidate Forums this week to help you get the latest information. The forums, Monday 7/23/18 and Tuesday 7/24/18.   will run from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. both evenings, with an opportunity to meet the candidates from 6:30-7:00 p.m., and the forum beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m.  The forum is being held inside the air-conditioned Ahtanum Youth Park’s Activities Building.  Refreshments will be served, and the event is free to the public.  On Monday, July 23, they host the Republican 14th and 15th District State Representative candidates, Chris Corry, Rep David Taylor, and Jeremie DuFault.   They are followed by the Republican candidates for County Commissioner, Jose Trevino, Lisa Homer, Norm Childress, Stephen Changala and Brent Knautz.

On Tuesday, July 24, the Yakima Coroner candidates Dan Williams and Jack Hawkins will participate, followed by the Yakima Sherriff candidates, Rick Mottice, Dave Simmons, Nolan Wentz and Robert Udell. Yakima County Republican Chair Benine McDonnell said, “The Yakima County Republicans trust the vote of the citizens in the August 7th primary election. It is important to ask Republican candidates where they stand on the issues, so the voters can make educated decisions in the primary.”

No Voter’s Pamphlet will be mailed with primary ballots this year, so the forums are an excellent opportunity for voters to learn more and select a candidate, McDonnell said.

Information from the various campaigns will be available to take home for voters to conduct further research on each candidate, and McDonnell encouraged citizens to bring their questions.
