Yakima business owners are seemingly open to the possibility of trolleys in the downtown area.

Carl Pastin spokesman for Yakima Valley Trolleys says a recent survey of 57 businesses along Yakima Avenue from 6th Avenue to the Convention Center found lots of support for downtown trolleys. He extolled the three-day survey was gratifying to trolley officials who say they're excited about working with the city to get trolleys rolling downtown.

Pastin says, “after talking with all the business owners we didn’t hear one negative comment.” He says the city has a big advantage. It already owns the trolleys and the rightaways.

Things that would cost the city millions of dollars if it were to build a new trolley system.
