Tribal Police Now Handling Shooting Investigation

Police in Toppenish say a man was shot as he was sitting outside a restaurant in the 200 block of South Toppenish Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Police say the victim was sitting at an outside table when the suspect in a vehicle pulled up and both began to argue. The suspect grabbed a gun from the car and fired at the victim who was trying to run away. The victim suffered a minor injury that did not require medical attention and the suspect drove away. Both the victim and suspect have been identified as enrolled members of the Yakama Nation and the investigation has been turned over to tribal police.
