Tree-trimming by city of Yakima crews will affect drivers near Powerhouse Road this week. The city issued this news release today:

Tree trimming along Powerhouse Road will result in the closure of a portion of the street on
Thursday, May 15. City of Yakima crews will be cutting back branches on trees along the north side of Powerhouse  to improve safety in the area. As a result, the portion of Powerhouse from the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 24th Avenue to the intersection of Powerhouse and 26th Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on May 15.
Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic away from the area and to a detour route that will utilize 24th Avenue north and south and Englewood Avenue east and west.
During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate
routes if possible until the project is completed. Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and traffic will be allowed through the project area when possible.
As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on
weather, equipment failure, and emergencies. For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
