UNION GAP, Wash.-- Drivers who use First Street in Yakima and Union Gap can expect to see more police patrols along the roadway.

It is part of a two year project to improve safety along the busy corridor.

About $400,000 of state grant money will pay for the project. The money will go toward some low cost engineering upgrades and the increased patrols.

The project encompasses all of First and Main Streets, along with Nob Hill Boulevard from Interstate 82 to 64th Avenue.
