People continue to travel to the Yakima Valley and spend money to enjoy all the sites, sounds and tastes the valley has to offer. John Cooper, president and CEO of Yakima Valley Tourism, says they're preparing for spring and summer. He says visitors spent an average of $410 million in 2018. "There's 39 counties in the state and we rank ninth in terms of spending."
All that money funds 3,800 people in the tourism industry and brings in about $39 million in state and local taxes that help support road repairs, police and fire units in Yakima County.
