A Toppenish teen injured in a fatal accident near Zillah Monday is improving at a Seattle hospital.

According to our news partners KNDO, a Harborview Medical Center spokesperson says 17-year-old Cassandra Silva has been upgraded to satisfactory condition. Silva is also out of the ICU.

Silva was injured when her car hit a tree, after she was hit by another vehicle.

State Troopers said 18-year-old Jeremiah Atkins ran a stop sign at Gilbert Road and Cheyne Road near Zillah and collided with a car driven by Silva. Both cars went off the road, and that's when Silva's car hit a tree.

Troopers said the car Atkins was driving rolled and hit a utility pole. He died at the scene.
