A Toppenish man is in custody accused of killing his two-month-old daughter.

KNDO reports that the Toppenish Police began investigating after the baby girl was taken to the Toppenish Emergency Room Tuesday with significant head trauma. Her father, 26-year-old Francisco Gasca, told investigators her injuries were from a fall. Paramedics later life flighted the girl to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to the severity of her injuries.

Further investigation revealed the injury was from abuse such as violent shaking or jarring. The baby girl passed away Thursday.

Yakama Nation Tribal Police saw Gasca in his car Friday and pursued him. Gasca tried to flea but crashed his car and was taken into custody.

Officers booked Gasca for second-degree murder. His bail is set at $1 million.
