Yakima Police have experienced 4 officer assaults in the last month and now officers in Toppenish are facing the same. It happened on Saturday in Toppenish. 20-year-old Antonio Solis pointed a gun at a Toppenish Police Officer right before 5 p.m. Saturday evening.
Solis was involved in a fight near the 200 Block of South Beech Street with two other people. When officers arrived, Solis and another suspect tried to drive away from the scene, witnesses pointed out the car to police and told them Solis had a gun.
When officers tried to stop the car, Solis got out and tried to run away on foot. Officers quickly caught up to him and disarmed him after a short struggle.
One of those officers, along with Solis had minor injures, they were both treated at Toppenish Community Hospital and released.
Solis was booked into jail on felony assault of a police officer, first degree unlawful possession of a a firearm and disorderly conduct.
