Hold on to your hats, we’re going over the “fiscal cliff”.   Politicians set up the “cliff” as a way to force themselves to actually have to work together to help solve the nation’s financial problems.  We borrow 45 cents on every dollar we spend so do we have a not enough revenue problem or a spending too much problem?  There lies the rub.  It depends on which party you talk to.  Democrats are demanding tax increases. Republicans are demanding spending cuts.  If a deal can’t be reached by midnight tonight (and the congress is now saying they can’t) then other tax increases and spending cuts will kick in.  This was supposed to be much worse than doing nothing and so it was to be the threat to force congress and the President to do something.  Only they didn’t.  We actually pay these people…oh yah and speaking of that, behind closed door last week the President actually gave them all a raise.  And we reelected him.  So here we go…move over Splash Mountain, out of the way Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride…we are heading over the cliff.   Makes you proud to be an American? Me neither.  Happy New Year.
