While it seemingly took forever for former Seattle Mariners great Edgar Martinez to finally be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, it was even longer than that when Gar paid a visit to Yakima the summer following his retirement from baseball.

The now defunct Yakima Bears Baseball Club brought the beloved Martinez to Yakima as a promotion for the game on August 12, 2005. Before that evening's contest, Edgar had a press conference at the Outback Steakhouse in Union Gap before signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans at a U.S. Cellular store on Nob Hill Blvd.

As evidenced by these photos, the throng waiting to meet "Senor Double" wound all the way around the building and two-thirds up the block on 23rd Ave.!

Those who were fortunate enough to join the festivities that day will surely attest that Edgar was also a Hall of Fame PERSON.
