His name has not been released. He has only been referred to as a boy 12- to 14-years-old from Yakima who fell through the ice at a city park pond on Saturday. He remains at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle today. Yakima police say he was with three other friends who also fell in the pond at Kiwanis Park, but were able to make it to shore. The fourth boy fell under the water and was rescued by a Yakima police officer.

A news release reads; Yakima Police officers Esther Cyr and Gary Garza arrived on scene first and entered the water to attempt rescue. They were then assisted by Sargent Tim Bardwell who was able to swim out and reach the victim. Canine officer Mark Mckinney arrived on scene and used his dog leash to throw to Officer Bardwell. The officers then pulled the victim and Sargeant Bardwell to shore. Officers Cyr and Garza then started CPR on the patient until ambulance and fire personnel were able to take over.

The three boys who made it to shore were treated for hypothermia at a local hospital.
