The three tenths sales tax proposal is up for renewal in November and Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic is hoping you'll support the tax. Brusic says the tax brings in nearly $10 million every year to support law and justice, everything from police departments to courts. And he says if it fails it would be disastrous. "There are about 33 deputy prosecuting attorneys in the Yakima County Prosecutors office and one third would lose their jobs. Chief Adam Diaz in Toppenish says he'd lose two line officers and two detention staff on top of the two he lost last year." Brusic says the Yakima Police Department would lose $2.3 million from it's budget. He says while the tax was passed in 2004 to increase county sheriff's deputies it's now a vital part of funding for law and justice needs in the Yakima Valley. It's up for re-newel and will appear on the November ballot.
