The Yakima County Sheriff's Office reports that three men fled from the site of a deadly car crash in Toppenish over the weekend.

Sgt. Chad Peterschick says deputies found a 26-year-old man dead inside a car around 5 a.m. Saturday. He adds that a witness saw three men flee on foot from the scene of the crash. Two of them, a 30- and a 34-year-old from Wapato, were found one mile away. The suspected driver was found hiding behind tall grass by a police dog.

Peterschick says alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

The three men who fled from the car crash had minor injuries.

The name of the men and the dead passenger were not released because the dead man's next of kin had not been notified yet.
