Thieves are Busy Stealing Packages on Front Porches

The Yakima police department has seen an increase in the theft of delivered packages recently. Typically, a delivery service (UPS, FedEx, etc.) drops packages off at residences when no one is home. We have had several reports of those packages being stolen following drop off. There is a possibility that the suspect or suspects are following delivery vans and targeting homes where the vans stop. Please be aware of any suspicious activity in your neighborhood and call 911 if you see something suspicious.
If you expect a package delivery you can request that it be held at the delivery service for pick up rather than home delivery.
Also, as a reminder, please do not leave valuables unattended in your vehicle. The Yakima police department typically sees an increase in car prowls during the holiday season.
