They Walked a Mile in Her Shoes [VIDEO]
Teetering precariously atop the same styles of high heels that women have endured for decades, more than 100 men limped gamely through downtown Yakima -- from Millennium Plaza to the Yakima County Courthouse and back -- to call attention to sexual violence on Friday.
The local event, in its eighth year, was part of The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence.
Participants came from as far away as western Washington and Portland, Ore. Crowding the sidewalks, they chanted and carried anti-violence signs, drawing honks, applause and whistles of support from passing drivers and pedestrians.
Two came from KDBL's Bull-Pen morning on-air crew -- Rik Mikals and Cefus.
Rik suffered ankle distress early on and had to take off his striking red pumps, but Cefus -- limping noticeably and leaning on friends by the end, endured the whole mile.
We'll have more on this soon -- tune in to the radio and watch this site.
Meantime, here's Emily Maris explaining more about the walk.
