It seems like no matter how tired they are, most kids simply don’t want to go to bed and will holdout as long as possible. Indulgent parents may fudge the “official” bedtime a bit depending on what’s going on and what time the kids need to get up but that’s still a problem. According to a new study from Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, early bedtimes for kids are best, no matter what time they wake up.

The study revealed that early school aged children should ideally be asleep by 8:30 PM. – not just getting ready, not just brushing their teeth, but ASLEEP! (Do I sound like the parent of a 7 year old?)

red to kids who go to bed later. The results showed that mothers whose children were asleep early also had better mental health.

Another experiment conducted by the National Sleep Foundation had children go to bed later than normal for one week and during that week their teachers, who did not know that their students had lost sleep, rated the kids as having "more academic problems and more attention problems." (sheknows)
