A federal grant will allow the West Valley Fire Department to hire 3 more firefighters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded the department $380,000 to cover the cost of the positions for two years. The department already has a two-person day crew, but the extra firefighters will increase the regular staffing to four firefighters. This is the third FEMA grant recieved this year. The other two combined for more than $587,000 dollars to the department.
